ABOUT SETTOP BOX (STB)
Digital television (DTV) set-top box (STB) is a device that enables a television set to receive digital television (DTV) signals from cable TV operator. DTV set-top boxes are sometimes called digital receivers. A set-top box (STB) is necessary to television viewers who wish to use their current analog television sets to receive digital television.
There are 3 types of Set top boxes available through Satellite Channels Pvt. Ltd.
- Basic Set Top Box (STB)
- Set Top Box (STB) with Personnel Video Recorder (PVR)
- High Definition (HD) Set Top Box (STB) with PVR
The Definitions of STBs are Mentioned Below:-
i. Basic Set Top Box
Basic Digital Television (DTV) Set-Top-Box (STB) for cable TV is used for receiving the Digital Television (DTV) Services through Cable TV on old analog TV sets & modern TV sets like LCD, LED, Plasma & Projectors. Set-Top-Box (STB) is especially important for Digital Television (DTV) services because it guarantees viewers to enjoy DVD Quality Television broadcasting.
ii. Set Top Box with Personnel Video Recorder (PVR)
A Set-Top-Box with personal video recorder (PVR) is a sophisticated set-top box (STB) with recording capability. Viewers can record the programs of their choice on Pen-Drive or External Hard-Drive by using STB with PVR. Viewers can also Pause, Rewind & forward the programs while playing the recorded programs. Vendors also refer to the units by these names: digital video recorder (DVR); personal TV recorder (PTR); and personal video station (PVS).
iii. High Definition (HD) Set Top Box (STB) with PVR
HDTV (high-definition television) is not the same thing as normal Digital television.
HDTV describes a new television format (including a new 16:9 aspect ratio and high pixel density) for much enhanced picture quality with lot of depth. Viewers can record the programs of their choice on Pen-Drive or External Hard-Drive by using STB with PVR. Viewers can also Pause, Rewind & forward the programs while playing the recorded programs.
